Merry Christmas From All of My Furry Friends!

I would like to share a favorite poem and send the best of wishes to you and yours during this holiday season.  Hope you enjoy!  May the New Year bring us peace, compassion, understanding, and love.  Thank you for visiting.

'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring.  Not even a mouse.
 The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, DASHER! now, DANCER! now, PRANCER and VIXEN!
On, COMET! on CUPID! on, DONNER and BLITZEN!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!

A Miracle

This is the time of year when the word "miracle" seems to be used more frequently.  As we go into the Christmas season and celebrate the miracles associated with this time of year, I remembered a story that happened in August.  This was indeed a miracle.  I would like to share this with you now.

Maxi, the ginger and white cat, is a miracle kitty who survived 11 days on her own after an apartment fire.  Maxi's owners lost almost everything in the fire, including "the life of one of their four cats."  Firefighters found two alive hiding under the bed.  That just left Maxi unaccounted for.  They thought they had lost their beloved cat, Maxi.  Missing posters were put up around the area, but the owners feared she was buried somewhere under the rubble.

"A lady across the way was praying and saw a cat walking around inside the apartment next to ours.  So management went in and found her in half an hour.  They called me and told me they found our cat.  I said thank you and told them that we could have closure now.  But they told me she was alive.", said the owner.

Maxi was taken to a vet clinic near the apartment complex and found to be healthy without any burns or signs of smoke inhalation.  The vet said that being a heavier cat might have been the thing that saved her life.  At the time of the writing in August, she had lost 3 pounds and weighed 10 pounds.

Maxi may have used several of her nine lives, but she is happy to be reunited with her family, her family is overjoyed to have her back, and they plan on rebuilding their home together.

Maxi is a beautiful cat, as you can see.

When I read the line, Maxi may have used several of her nine lives, it brought to mind some other pictures to share with you.

 Thank goodness, I don't have nine lives to worry about.  I'm doing good just to manage this one!  Have a great day, dear readers.

Things To Be Thankful For

With Thanksgiving being this week, we always take time to look back at the blessings we have and to be thankful that we are still on this side of the dirt and vertical.  Thought I would share some of the things we have been thankful for.

We have a nice, warm house to live in where we can be safe and comfortable.
We have plenty of food to eat.
We have plenty of clothes.
We exercise to keep in shape.
We have friends to share many activities with, such as dancing or swimming, plus more.

Of course, there might be some activities we really don't want you to know about!  :>)
And, of course, the thing we're most thankful for is family.  That is the core of our existence in this household and the thing that keeps us all going.  Life may change, but our family is always there for us.
I hope your Thanksgiving was happy, peaceful, and rewarding.  My prayer for you, dear reader, is that your life will be blessed and prosperous!  God bless one and all.

A Day in My Life (The Cat's Version)

The alarm clock goes off, but I really don't want to get up!  Okay, one, two, three!  Here I go.  Streeetccch!
Oh, goodness, that feels soooo much better.  Now to get something to eat before I go to work.  Running a little late, so maybe I'll just have some cereal and milk.

Do I have everything?  Lights off, keys, purse, my briefcase.  Oh, need to check the computer before I leave.  Yup, everything is okay there.

Off to work I go!  Have a friend who works with me that I pick up every morning.  She's going through a hard time right now, so I want to help her.  That's what friends do.  :>)
As soon as I walked into the office, I could tell what kind of a day it was going to be!  Holy cow!
Thank goodness, it was Friday because it would be all I could do to get through this day.  Wouldn't want to have to come back to this tomorrow.  Typical problems, but they just seem to happen all at once.  There are always the ones who won't admit to the fact that they made a mistake.
The ones who don't work and play well with others or want to be the office idiot!

 Well, it's time to put my thinking cap on and find solutions to these problems so that I can get out of here tonight.

After a nice lunch and some quiet time, I'm ready to tackle the problems and get them out of the way.
I'll give the ones who won't admit to mistakes something easier to do so they develop more confidence.
 And the ones that can't get along will just have to learn how to fit in!
Okay, my work is done for the day!  Thank goodness!  Time to get in the car and go home, eat some supper, relax, and take a nice long, warm bath.  Oh, yeah!
Uh, where iz me soaps?

Good night, everybody.

More Kitty Facts

Does your cat make biscuits?  Yes, I said biscuits.  Kirby likes to knead my tummy.  Now if it would make it smaller, that would be great!!  However, it does feel good.  Here are some thoughts about it from Kitty Flix.

Cats express happiness by making biscuits, or kneading their paws. But where does this behavior come from?

One theory is that kittens knead their mom's stomachs while breastfeeding to pump more milk into their mouths.

Cats also knead to mark their territory. They have glands on their paws that release their scent onto the place (or person) they're kneading. So be flattered if your cat is claiming you!

Cats have fabulous reflexes!  If Kirby decides to grab something away from me, it happens in the blink of an eye!  Loves to grab my shoelaces when I'm trying to tie my shoes.  Sometimes that's an ouch!

 Kitties aren't just cute animals; they're the descendants of wild cats and have similar superpowers.

Surviving falls from towering heights, running faster than a speeding bullet, and the ability to imitate a snake's hiss are all qualities that make your kitty a force to be reckoned with.

Just don't leave your money near the kitty bank; it'll be gone in a flash!

And then, there's the basic difference between cats and dogs.  This video is very short, but absolutely priceless!  Let me know what you think.  https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=236170989852903

27 Cats That Immediately Regretted Their Decisions

We've talked about cats being fearless and why they might think this way.  However, don't you think that maybe some of this fearlessness could get them into situations they might regret?  Yup, I think so.

And you're not the only cat that feels that way, my friend, as you will see in more pictures.

 Don't believe what the dog tells you!

 Don't get too close to the action to see what's going on.  Could be dangerous.

Whoops!  Hope you have a backup plan, kitty.

Hope it's not time to fire up the barbeque or this one will really regret his decision.

 Sometimes it's not a dangerous decision that was made.  It was just an ordinary one.

These are only a few examples, of course.  For some hilarious pictures of cats regretting their decisions, go to http://www.buzzfeed.com/ariellecalderon/cats-who-immediately-regret-their-decisions  I really had the giggles watching this.  Enjoy!

A Day of Playing

What should I play with?  Where should I play?  How long should I play?  Who's going to play with me?

No, nothing good ever comes from this look, but I sure see the questions flying through this kitty's head, can't you? Now let's see if we help this poor guy out and give him some suggestions.

These guys found boxes to play with:

This one had a little help, I think, with its box.

However, these put their boxes to good use!

Where should you play?  Anywhere you want!  Inside or outside; take your pick.

How long should you play?  That actually depends on what you're doing.  You might be having fun, but your human doesn't think so!

Who's going to play with you?  Hopefully, another kitty or your human will play with you.

But, if that doesn't work, you can always find something to do by yourself.  After all, you're a very smart cat!

However, sometimes things just don't work out the way they are suppose to.

There's always tomorrow, kitty.  It will all work out okay.  Don't give up; you have 9 lives to live.  There's plenty of time.
