Haven't written short stories for a while, so decided to do that this week. Enjoy!
The Smith family was the average, busy, American family. Mr. Smith went to work with his briefcase every day and came home at night with things to do for the next day. Mrs. Smith also worked. She was a teacher and carried a briefcase too. Tommy, 12, and Sally, 10, were their children. They carried backpacks to school. Merlin was their kitty cat and became very curious about what was in the briefcases and backpacks.
One night while everyone was asleep, Merlin decided this was his chance to check things out. Oh, my goodness! The treasures that he found! There were all kind of papers to jump on and slide all over the floor as well as pencils, erasers, pens, and other things to paw and chase. By the time he was through looking at everything, the living room was a mess. The Smith family was not very happy with him in the morning.
Several weeks later, it was a Bring Your Pet to School Day. The kids talked their mother into taking Merlin to school with them. After school, they had activities to attend, so Merlin needed to stay with Mrs. Smith. However, she had a school board meeting to attend and brought Merlin with her.
