Monday Morning

Lancaster lived in a house with his cat family and his human family. He had a mama, two sisters and two brothers. His human family was a Mom, a Dad, three girls and two boys. He had fun playing with everyone; especially in the summer when the kids were out of school. Dad had a full-time job; Mom only worked a few days a week. It was perfect. Everybody got along and seemed happy. There was only one time during the week that Dad seemed grouchy and that was on Monday morning.

Lancaster couldn't understand that because one day was just the same as the other. He would eat, play, sleep and then repeat the process. What difference did it make if the day was Monday? One summer day, company came to the house to spend the weekend. Lancaster was excited to have more people to play with because the company brought two more kids with them.

However, Lancaster didn't realize what he was in for. He was able to play, but it was more than he was used to. Didn't they understand that he had his regular routine of eating, playing and sleeping and that he couldn't play all day and half the night? He'd try to sleep, but the kids were teasing him or bothering him constantly. On Sunday evening, the company finally left, but Lancaster was exhausted. He didn't even want to get up the next morning when it was time to eat. He opened one eye and realized why Dad was grouchy on Monday mornings!
