If your future travel plans include a visit to England, I can save you the problem of finding a hotel that will meet your needs as well as your pet(s) needs. We are talking some real foo foo stuff here!
Meant to rectify what owners considered a “gap in the market,” the
first-ever luxury cat hotel has opened its doors in the UK. The
Meadow Cat Hotel
in Cornwall took 18 months to complete, but after painstakingly
building up the establishment from scratch, owner Gemma Machin, a former
primary school teacher, is now welcoming guests to her “five-paw”
resort.
“I think if the owners are going on holiday their cats should get a treat as well,” Machin said, according to the
Western Morning News.
“In lots of catteries cats are just put in a cage, but we can drive the
cats to and from the hotel, offer them lots of stimulation to keep them
active during their stay, give them large rooms and lots of attention.”
Machin’s hotel features under-floor heating, custom wrought-iron beds
outfitted with memory foam mattresses and crushed velvet sheets and a
gourmet daily menu that includes fresh king prawn and salmon filet --
all at
a fairly reasonable price.
And, in addition to daily pet-pampering sessions (which include a lot
of catnip), Meadow Cat also has amenities for cat-owners: each room in
the hotel contains a webcam that tracks cats during their stay, which
owners can access online.
“You get a view of your cat whenever
you like -- it’s for peace-of-mind really,” said Machin’s husband and
business partner, Richard. “There is nothing to this level in Cornwall
and I think it is because there is nothing to this standard in the UK.
It is a new era for cats and their owners.”
What are your thoughts on this hotel? As I said, it's pretty fancy. :>) Don't plan on going that way anytime soon, but it would be fun to check it out.
