Smokey and George

What a crazy, busy week!! Time for another story. Enjoy.

Smokey loved to play outside! Any time he had the chance, that's where he would be. If it was a sunny day, he would lie down on his back with his tummy up in the air to catch the heat of the sun. Oh, it felt so good. He could really take a good nap that way. If he was feeling playful, there were all kind of bugs, lizards, and other animals to chase. Sometimes, he just enjoyed smelling all of the pretty flowers growing in the yard. The yard was a comfortable, happy place.

One day, he had just dozed off when something hit him in the head! Thump! "OUCH!", cried Smokey. He looked around to see what in the world had hit him. He was NOT happy to be disturbed. At first, he didn't notice anything, but then he finally saw a brown lump lying on the grass. What was it? He was trying to figure it out when he heard a voice say, "Give me back my nut!!" A squirrel went racing past him, grabbed the nut, and ran back up the tree.

Since he was a cat, he was very curious. "Who are you, and what is a nut?" Smokey called up to the squirrel. "My name is George," replied the squirrel. "Nuts are something I eat" Smokey couldn't imagine eating something as hard and lumpy as a nut, so he asked George to bring it down from the tree and let him  look it over. George did, and over time, he and Smokey became great friends. Later, Smokey wanted his humans to meet George and invited him into the house. The whole family loved him!

Happy Father's Day, Mr. Cat!!

Sunday is Father's Day. We humans like to get gifts for our fathers. Made me wonder what I would give to my father if he had been a cat. Interesting concept. Here's what I came up with for your cat(s).

First of all, they would probably want a party. (When you weren't home)

Once you are home, presents would be expected. How about a sweater?

That's probably too hot for summer. Maybe a new hat.

Let's see what else they would like. Perhaps a nice trip somewhere.

If a long trip is not convenient, try a shorter one.

If your cat is computer literate, perhaps they would like to post on Facebook.

Human dads would like chocolates, but that's not good for cats.

However, they might like flowers.

One thing I KNOW they would like is a new box to play in.

Something else they would appreciate is a nice treat.

However, if it's not what they want, you may see this!

They might enjoy music while they are eating.

When the day is done, your cat probably will be tired from all the excitement. Time to tell them good night.

What kind of things would you get your cat for Father's Day? Let's see how many funny suggestions I get.

Close to the Beach

Time for another original story. Enjoy!!

When Cuddles was a kitten, his mama would always tell him that the world was a big place. There were so many places to go and things to explore! The more she talked about it, the more excited Cuddles became. He could hardly wait to go see what it was all about. To him, it seemed to take forever to get big enough to get out of box where he was born. His mama told him that was just the first step. He would have to get a lot bigger to be able to go outside.

While Cuddles waited to get bigger, his mama would tell him about some of the places she had seen in the books that the humans left lying around. So many pretty pictures to look at and dream about. Her favorite picture was of something the humans called a "beach". All that sand made it seem like one giant litter box! How much fun would it be playing in that! There was a lot of water in the picture also, but Mama didn't really care for that. She just wanted to be on the sand.

One day the humans started talking about going to this beach. Wow! Cuddles and Mama were really excited about finally being able to see this place. Everybody in the family was busy packing and getting things ready. However, no one got anything ready for the cats. The cats started to worry that they might not be going after all. Sure enough, the family left without them. Cuddles and Mama were so disappointed! There was another human in the house to take care of them, but that didn't make them any happier. Cuddles finally decided:

Gives Us A Break!!

Saw a picture on Facebook the other day which gave me an idea for this week's blog. Cats will sleep between 15 and 16 hours during a 24-hour period. But while they are awake, Katie bar the door!!! They make up for lost time with the things they can get into, mess up, or tear up. Since I have two cats, what one doesn't think of, the other one will! (Reminds me of when my two sons were growing up.) Let's see what they can get done in a short amount of time.

Two hour period in the morning:

It's probably time for a nap. Let's look at two hours in the afternoon.

Definitely time for another nap! Then it's time for evening activities.

Of course, they're always busy when you're trying to sleep!

Well, kitty cats, I think that it's time for you to get some sleep so I can too. Goodness gracious, it's been a busy time! What are some of the things that your cat gets into trouble for? I'm sure there's a lot of stories you could tell. Please share.
